Skill development in construction includes AI and IoT

National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), a Public Private Partnership organization, is facilitating the development of cross-functional Qualification Packs and National Occupational Standards (QP-NOS) in association with Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) to meet the requirement of the increased automation in construction, manufacturing and industry workers viz. Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Electronic Manufacturing Services, Robotic Process Automation etc. This information was given by Minister of State in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship R. K. Singh in the Lok Sabha yesterday.

Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is implementing  its flagship scheme Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY 2.0) 2016-20 through National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The scheme promotes skilling/up-skilling of manpower in various sectors including manufacturing, construction and industry through respective SSCs.

The Directorate General of Training, to keep pace with Technological innovations in industries, has introduced new trades viz. Geo-Informatics Assistant, Aeronautical Structure and Equipment Fitter, Additive Manufacturing Technician (3D Printing), Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA)/Drone Pilot, Electrician Power Distribution, Technical Mechatronics, Solar Technician (Electrical), Internet of Things (Smart Agriculture), Internet of Things (Smart Healthcare), Internet of Things (Smart City), Smartphone Technician Cum App Tester, Soil Testing & Crop Management and Firemen.
