Though the COVID-19 breakout has slowed down the recruitment of many posts relating to urban development and planning, there are signs of pace picking up. Here is the list for the week in Urban and environment planning.
Ankita Mandal is now Research Associate at Climate Centre for Cities, National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA). She will be supporting the collation and analysis of urban data, developing knowledge products, coordinating with various stakeholders, and assisting research for publication and communication for implementation of Climate Smart Cities Assessment Framework 2020. Ankita has Bachelors degree in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning and Masters in Environmental Planning from School of Planning and Architecture.
Empati Uday Kumar has been appointed as Research Associate at National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA). Earlier he was Program Fellow at Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Empati is B. Tech in Civil Engineering from J.B. Institute of Engineering & Technology and has done Masters in Planning from School of Planning & Architecture Vijayawada.
Ar. Pritam Patnaik has been appointed as Indian Smart City Fellow at Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Pritam has done B. Arch from Piloo Mody College of Architecture and Masters in Environment Planning from School of Planning & Architecture Bhopal. His area of work in Environmental planning includes Climate change, forest management, rural area management and environment, health and resilience, etc.
Riya Rahiman is now UNDP’s Resilience Specialist, Secretariat-Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure. Riya, an urban environmental planner/civil engineer, is engaged in research on urbanization challenges with respect to climate change, air quality and sustainable development. Riya is a B. Tech from College of Engineering, Trivandrum and has done M. Plan in Environmental Planning from CEPT.
Suresh Kotla is now the Director – Energy & Environment at Institute for Sustainable Communities. Earlier he was the Director – Clean Tech & Sustainable Manufacturing. Suresh has Over 20 years of experience in areas encompassing low carbon sustainable development, policy advocacy, energy efficiency market transformation, clean technology deployment, climate change mitigation, and adaptation, urban sustainability, green buildings, community resilience, and corporate sustainability. Suresh has done Master in Environmental Science from Bharathiar University.
Vishaan Chakrabarti, FAIA is now Dean at College of Environmental Design at University of California, Berkeley. He is also the founder of Partnership for Architecture & Urbanism (PAU). A Master of City Planning from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Vishaan is also the author of highly acclaimed book, A Country of Cities: A Manifesto for an Urban America (Metropolis Books, 2013), where he argues that a more urban United States would result in a more prosperous, sustainable, joyous, and socially mobile nation.
