Despite the havoc created by cyclone Ockhi, Bamboo Fest being held at Marine Drive in Kochi, Kerala from 1st to 5th December has been able to attract decent crowd. On behalf of Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Kerala, the festival is organized by Kerala State Bamboo Mission and Kerala Bureau of Industrial Promotion. This mega exhibition consists of around 100 stalls and thousands of independent artists across India are part of it.

Bamboo Fest is a platform to provide exposure to the creative talents from all over the country to show their creativity in making various types of products out of bamboo. Specialty of this festival is that while the visitors can place orders or buy a wide range of bamboo products, they can also see artisans weaving bamboo mats and working on bamboo to turn out their favourite products. Apart from the age old merchandise the innovative minds have moved forward to making bags, lampshades, washable murals, accessories, jewellery, decor and even vehicles.

Today, the 14th edition of Bamboo Fest will come to an end but organizers and nature lovers hope that it will make a new beginning in the journey of sustainability.
