A casual glance through this week’s list of urban planners who have some moves in their professional career recently indicates that there is increasing trend of architects doing post graduation in urban planning and also more and more females are getting attracted to this field, of late. Here is the list for the week:

Kavitha Raghunath has been appointed as Urban Planner at Directorate of Urban Land Transport Urban Development Department. Kavitha has done B Arch from M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology and Masters degree in Urban Planning and Management from CEPT. Kavitha is an Urban Planner with a demonstrated history of working in the transportation industry.

Mohammed Qiyamuddin has been appointed as Urban Planner at Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, an organisation that looks after planning, co-ordination, supervising, promoting and securing the planned development of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region. Mohammed has done Bachelor’s degree in architecture and Master’s degree City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Art University, Hyderabad.

Mohit Kapoor is now Project Manager at CEPT Research and Development Foundation, the research and advisory unit of the CEPT University. Mohit has done Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from CEPT University.

Sonali Mahamna has been appointed as Urban Planner at Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority. Earlier she was working with Orissa Bridge & Construction Corporation Limited as Architect Planner. She is a B Arch from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and has done Masters in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.

Soumya Gupta is now Urban Planner at Egis, an international player in construction engineering and mobility services. Soumya has done B Arch from IPS academy Indore architecture. Soumya is very passionate about urban planning.

Swati Samantray is now Urban Planner at MaRS Planning & Engineering Services Pvt. Ltd, a provider of design, engineering & project management services. Swati is B Arch from Ajay Binay Institute of Technology Piloo Modi College of Architecture and has done Masters in Masters in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from CEPT University. She is skilled in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, SketchUp, and Revit.

Yashesh Panchal is now Sr. Manager – Planning and Strategy at RECITY Network Private Ltd. RECITY is an Urban development organisation that supports Governments, Corporate manufacturers and CSR organisations in planning, implementing and sustaining end to end solutions in Solid Waste Management, EPR and Circular Economy. Yashesh is B Arch from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi institute for Architecture. He has done Masters in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from Columbia University in the City of New York.
