Architect & interior designers blamed for Kamala Mills fire -min
There were many a slip between the cup and the lip in complying most of the rules by the architect of the Kamala Mills which caught fire last month killing 14 people. The architect in question is B.R. Gandhi who has been evading arrest till now. He is the architect of the entire Trade House building.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report on the Kamala Mills fire case has found that the architect had not submitted the design plans of the sub-division of the two rooftop restaurants 1 Above and Mojo’s Bistro with the civic body. In the report it was observed that the architect did not submit the plan online in 2017 for subdivision. The architect had last visited the site in 2014, as he is based in Ahmedabad and not Mumbai and the work in Mumbai is looked after by his employees. It is also mentioned in the report that the architects did not have any records of site inspections with proper dates.
The report had recommended criminal action against architect along with the owners of the premises. The police have already arrested the owners of Kamala Mills and the fire brigade official, who allegedly submitted a false report, but the architect is still at large.
