According to the government all the ongoing and future projects of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will be disabled friendly as per the extant Acts and Codes. According to DDA, parking and facilities such as lifts and ramps to facilitate differently abled persons are being provided in all its ongoing and future projects. All constructions will be disabled friendly to facilitate movement of the disabled persons in accordance with provisions of building bye-laws. This information was given in the Parliament by the government recently.
As per prevailing policy the flats are allotted by the DDA to differently abled persons on ground floor only. Also, 1% reservation in allotment of flats and plots and 5% reservation in allotment of shops are provided to the Persons with disability as defined in Section 2 of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995. The above reservation will not be applicable in case of auction mode of disposal. Further, 5% rebate in the cost subject to a maximum of Rs.1.00 lakh is being given to the persons with disability, who are allotted flats, shops and plots under the above quota.
