Greenply which is expanding its face veneer making capacity at Gabon will be selling more than 90% of the volumes overseas, mainly to Europe, the US and West Asia. It should be noted that Greenply is expanding its face veneer making capacity at Gabon from 36,000cbm to 96,000 cbm and its expanded capacity will go on stream from next month.
It should be noted that Greenply is the first to enter into Gabon for setting up a face veneer unit at a time when the country was facing acute challenges with respect to the availability of Gurjan face veneers. Greenply has been credited with introducing Okoume face veneers in India and successfully replacing it with high cost Gurjan.
Interestingly, over the past few months, Greenply has hosted a series of ‘Veneerscape’ – a carnival of veneers at multiple locations including Kolkata, Raipur, Nagpur and Hyderabad. The company displays over 500-1,000 sheets of decorative range of veneers with large number of its dealers gracing the occasion. The range of decorative veneers include wood crests, teak veneers and royal crown veneers. This is one of the marketing strategies employed by the company when industry is facing subdued demand conditions.
Greenply has also recently introduced Green Club 5 Hundred with 500% lifetime warranty – an upgraded version of Green Club (introduced in 2000 with 300% lifetime warranty) with additional technical features like antibacterial coating, additional layer of face veneer and extra glue line protection, making it the most durable plywood introduced thus far in the plywood industry.
