Three years after first announcing its plans to set up paint manufacturing facilities in the Southern States of the Country, Asian Paints, country’s largest paint manufacturer, has started the commercial production of paints and intermediaries at its newly set up Mysuru plant in Karnataka. The initial capacity of the manufacturing facility is 3 lakh KL p.a. and the company will be increasing this capacity to 6 lakh KL p.a. in the next phase. The company had set aside Rs 2300 crore for Mysuru facility.
The company is also setting up 5,00,000 KL per annum capacity of plant at Visakhapatnam, at an overall investment of Rs 1,785 crore. Both Mysuru and Visakhapatnam plants are fully-automated paint manufacturing facilities set up to meet future demand especially from Southern region. Company’s largest single-location paint manufacturing capacities are located at Rohtak in Haryana and Khandala, in Maharashtra.
